I don't know if this can be a bug or issue but it severely affects the performance.

During insertion of data into STSdb, I applied the minimal settings offered here (default-settings / 8) to the engine and committed it to the disk.

When I try to open the saved database and query it, the performance is very bad. Even if I try to apply the new settings (default settings) to the engine while opening the database, no gain in performance is observed.

In a summary, the minimal settings applied to an engine during insert, will persist forever no matter which settings you apply in the future.

Just for the comparison, in my test case, reading the database saved with default settings took 33 ms on average and reading the database saved with default-settings/8 took 10000 ms or 300 times slower ...

Is the permanent settings and its consequence effect on performance, by design or is a bug?
